Abstract

A new data about species viability and distribution new species of East Asian fern Aleuritopteris shensiensis Ching for Russian Federation and Baikalian Siberia are presented. Aleuritopteris argentea (Gmel.) Fée is the only species of the genus Aleuritopteris in flora of Russia. Some scientists accept the form lacking farina abaxially (A. argentea var. obscura) as a separate species A. shensiensis Ching. In Baikal Siberia such plants are known from several localities in the south of Buryatia Republic. We investigated plants from southern Buryatia and found that samples of A. shensiensis have broader crests of sporangia and bigger fronds on the adaxial side of lamina, than A. argentea s. str. Our results speak in favor of the specific status of A. shensiensis.
