Abstract

The effect of baker's yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae on the toxicity of solutions of heavy metals and arsenic salts (HgCl2, Pb(CH3COO)2, CdCl2, Na2AsO3) was studied. It was shown that toxicity of Na2AsO3 and HgCl2solutions was reduced almost in two times after of 15 minutes’ incubation at a concentration 1 mg/l and 5 mg/l CdCl2 with yeast. The toxicity of solution of 1 mg /l Pb(CH3COO)2 for yeast was reduced on 20 %. The detoxifying effect has been amplified at increasing of exposure time of yeast in the solutions studied from 15 to 60 min.
