Changes in spatial distribution of Laridae breeding settlements in the Selenga delta during the decreased water level

Abstract
Data on changes of abundance and spatial distribution in Laridae in the Selenga River delta in 1989-2002 were analyzed. The distribution tends to be grouped in territorially conservative species, and random in spatially movable species. A switching between grouped and uniform distribution in the breeding population of a species is able to indicate essential changes in habitat state.
