Some species of solitary vespid wasps: Ancistrocerus mongolicus (Kostylev, 1940), Eumenes mongolicus (Morawitz, 1889), Katamenes tauricus (de Saussure, 1855) were recorded in 2016 year on the territory of the Barguzin depression located at the northeastern Baikal region. These species are located at the periphery of the range. These registration points are the most northern in the distribution of these steppe species. The Barguzin Basin as an intermontane depression in the paleogeographic plan acts as a refugium retaining on its territory some desert-steppe vegetation elements. The latter has spread to the north in the Pleistocene-Holocene. These conditions contributed to the preservation of the Dauro-Mongolian and Central Asian elements of the vespid fauna in this area. In this article, we offer options for a likely event about the expansion of these species to the north of Baikal in the historical past.
