Rare carabids (Coleoptera, Carabidae) of Baikalian region and the principles of preservation of insects

Abstract
From 565 carabid species reported in Baikal Siberia, 159 are rare or locally distributed. The distributional patterns and ecological preferences of these species were analysed. The causes for the rarity of carabid beetles and other insects are discussed. Some proposals for including of insects in Red data books are made.
