Molecular phylogeny of baikal species flock Lamprodrilus (Oligochaeta, lumbriculidae)

Abstract
The phylogenetic relationships of the Lumbriculidae (Oligochaeta) of Lake Baikal (Siberia, Russia) were investigated with a data set of mitochondrial COI gene sequences of 42 species, 26 of which belong to Lamprodrilus species group. The lack of phylogenetic signal in the Lamprodrilus group was interpreted as evidence of explosive radiation of this genus. The validity of uniting Agriodrilus, Teleuscolex and Lamprodrilus in a single Lamprodrilus genus, representing a genuine species flock, was reaffirmed.
