Abstract

In this article are reviewed the mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction participation in socially significant diseases pathogenesis. It is established, that main factors of mitochondrial dysfunction development are free radicals, ishaemia/reperfusion, toxic damages. The main consequences of mitochondrial dysfunction are ATP deficiency, reactive oxygen species production, and programmed cell death activation. This promotes development of structural and functional disturbances in different tissues and organs.
