Evaluation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons toxicity for plants

Abstract
Effect of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) to the sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) suspension culture growth has been studied. For the experiments naphthalene, acenaphthene, acenaphthylene, phenanthrene, pyrene, fluoranthene were used in different concentrations. The results showed inhibitory effects in most cases, stimulatory effects were found for low concentrations only.
