In 1963–1988, in the course of systematic study of phytobenthos in the Lake Baikal, L. A. Izboldina collected material on the structure and distribution of meio- and macrophytobenthos in the littoral zone along the entire perimeter of the lake. Until now, just a general scheme of phytobenthos structure was published. The purpose of this work is to publish the initial data on phytobenthos structure in form of a series of profiles laid in littoral zone along the open coast of the the lake Baikal. In the article we describe the first 75 (out of 131) benthic profiles laid along the western coast of the lake.
